This photo was taken from inside a Grab car ride service. We’re waiting for the left turn signal to go green. This motorcycle transport service rider put himself on our right, only to cut into our lane when we’re about to turn left. I wish I had taken a snapshot of that too.
It’s hilarious how undisciplined motorists in my country got to earn the moniker “kamote”, which is the Tagalog word for “sweet potatoes”. First of all, these obnoxious traffic rules violators are not sweet at all. And second, it’s a disservice to the potato family of tubers! I’m not sure about how the association stuck.
The pejorative term kamote is not exclusive to disorderly motorcycle riders. It also applies to unruly drivers of all types of vehicles.
